How to cook Turkish lentils? The most famous dish is red lentil soup. Have you ever tried it? Here is the introduction:
Ingredients
250 g waxy potatoes
250 g carrots
2 stalks of celery
2 onions
2 cloves of garlic
50g butter
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 teaspoon sweet paprika powder
1 1/2 tsp curry powder
1 l vegetable stock (from the jar)
150g red lentils
200 g diced tomatoes (canned)
1 stalk of mint
1 organic lemon
Salt
pepper
4 tbsp yogurt
preparation
1) Wash, peel and dice the potatoes into 1-2 cm pieces. Peel and clean the carrots, wash and clean the celery and cut both into fine slices. Peel and finely dice the onions and garlic.
2) Melt butter in a saucepan. Sauté onions and garlic in it. Add potatoes and sauté briefly. Add the tomato paste and spices, pour in the stock, bring to the boil and simmer over medium heat for approx. 2 minutes. Stir in the lentils, vegetables and tomatoes and simmer, covered, over low heat for about 15 minutes.
3) Wash the mint, shake dry, pluck the leaves, cut into strips and stir into the lentils. Season the stew with grated lemon peel and lemon juice, salt and pepper and serve with a dollop of yoghurt each.
